Is It Safe To Put Fabuloso In Your Toilet Tank?

Popularized by the infamous Tik Tok hack, it seems as though people everywhere are drowning their toilets with the all purpose cleaning product by Fabuloso.

Allegedly, if you put this all in one cleaner down your toilet tank, it will allow it to self clean with a mere flush.

This does, however, seem a bit too good to be true, doesn’t it?

If you want to find out more about whether or not it’s safe to put Fabuloso down your toilet tank, keep reading, as we take a look below.

What Is Fabuloso?

First of all, before we get into all the safety precautions involved, let’s discuss what exactly Fabulosa is.

Fabulosa is a concentrated disinfectant, meaning that it can be used for a variety of different purposes.

Some of these include getting stains out of clothing, cleaning greasy backsplashes, freshening up your trash can, spot cleaning your walls and cupboards, cleaning dirty surface areas, and a whole host of other things.

It was first introduced in the 1980s, as a cleaning product made in Venezuela, and it quickly rose in popularity.

Its cleaning power was deemed a marvel in the household, and it’s maintained its popularity up until today.

One of the things that people love most about the product is that it comes in a huge variety of different scents, depending on your preference.

Some of these include lavender, lemon, passion fruit, ocean paradise, spring, and so much more.

How Are You Supposed To Put Fabuloso In Your Toilet Tank?

If you’re curious about how you’re supposed to put the Fabuloso in your toilet tank according to the popular Tick Tock, we’ve outlined the steps below.

The reason why so many people are trying this hack in the first place, is because it’s so easy to do.

All you have to do is to take a regular kitchen knife, and slice the side of the bottle, close to the very bottom.

When the toilet tank refills, the small slit in the bottle will cause it to refill at a very slow pace.

Place the bottle in the side portion of your toilet tank, and simply leave it to do the work.

Once the full bottle becomes empty, you replace it with another.

Seems easy doesn’t it? But, could this be potentially harmful to your toilet tank?

Is Fabuloso Safe In My Toilet Tank?

So the simple answer is, yes, Fabuloso is safe to put in your toilet tank because you won’t encounter any harmful chemicals being released that could be detrimental to your health.

But, this doesn’t by any means, mean that you should put Fabuloso down your toilet tank.

One of the potential risks that you could be taking by putting Fabuloso down your toilet tank is corrosion.

Fabuloso, because of its immense ability to clean surfaces without leaving a trace of dirt, has a lot of powerful chemicals inside.

Although as we mentioned above they’re not harmful enough to damage your health after putting them in the tank, but they could potentially damage your toilet.

The chemicals could potentially corrode several areas of your toilet, including the flappers, connections, and flush valve.

Your tank will contain several elements which are designed to be durable, including the plastic and rubber, but, over time, Fabuloso could wear these down until they’re not functioning properly anymore.

If you did have to eventually replace the items listed above, they would not only cost you money, but also a lot of time and effort.

This leads us to question whether or not it’s actually worth putting these chemicals down your toilet, just for a lavender smell to hit the air when you flush.

Could Potentially Cause Issues With Water

This is yet another reason why you probably shouldn’t listen to the Tick Tock hack and put Fabuloso inside your toilet tank.

Scientifically, your toilet will release, on average, around 1.6 gallons of water with every single flush.

This will go directly into your toilet bowl. After you’re done flushing, the tank will then naturally refill with water as it’s programmed to do.

In order to create a flush that is powerful enough to get rid of the waste in your toilet bowl, it will require refilling the tank.

This obviously becomes problematic if your tank is filled with Fabuloso.

The space created from the bottle will take up a good portion of the space that your water needs to refill.

The result? You’ll need to flush your toilet a good couple of times before it actually does the job properly.

This obviously isn’t ideal, and could become a massive inconvenience.

Your toilet tank will only be left with a capacity of around 1.2 GPF after your Fabuloso bottle has been added to the mix, as these bottles which are 45 ounces in weight, will take up almost a full quarter of the space.

This will significantly reduce the power of your toilet system, and cause waste products to remain even after flushing.

How Long Does A Bottle Of Fabuloso Last?

Now that we’ve covered the risks associated with putting Fabuloso down your toilet, let’s say that you were to go ahead and try this hack anyway.

How long would the Fabuloso bottle last? The answer is – only a week.

As you can imagine, this could get pretty costly to replace over time.

Final Thoughts

As you’ve probably already gathered from the information provided above, we do not recommend that you put Fabuloso inside your toilet tank.

Yes, it seems like a good idea, but it won’t for very long when you’re struggling to flush the toilet and the parts begin to corrode.
